Mattina Mechanical Limited (MML), an Ontario based mechanical contracting company, provides a wide range of plumbing, heating and environmental contracting services. Founded in 1979 by Sam Mattina and currently run by his three sons Vince, Domenic and Sammy, MML experienced a rapid growth. Using maestro* since 2004, they had been looking for an integrated solution that included accounting, contracting and service applications.
MML required greater control over the profitability of projects by tracking the many detailed transactions that occur over the course of a given project. It was essential for them to have a consolidated system that could grow with the business by offering specialized modules (such as inventory) and a breakdown of projects by industry sector.
After acquiring Plumbway Inc., a residential and commercial plumbing service company (primarily servicing the Southern Ontario area), MML required a new business management software solution that would be able to integrate this second company into the existing system. This would allow them to optimize their resources across both companies by sharing information. Being a progressive firm, they looked to Maestro Technologies to provide a solution that offered a wide range of functions to service their immediate needs and leave plenty of room for expansion and growth.
MML required a solution to aid them in the tracking and reporting of project costs. Maestro provided a comprehensive solution that allowed MML to create detailed project budgets, manage all project purchase commitments, track all vendor invoices against commitments and track all labor and equipment expense details. Immediate benefits were realized as project managers could be evaluated based on facts. This removed the personal side of project assessments and allowed project managers to learn from their successes and failures. This is a huge benefit for a company that invests a great deal into the personal development of its employees.
MML also needed a solution to manage customer service contracts and coordinate technician dispatch for tracking the source of their business and a way to enable dispatchers to request and collect important information during the initial customer contact. Maestro*’s service contract and dispatch module was perfect for managing the contracts and technicians.
Maestro worked with MML to determine the specific requirements and made enhancements to their standard software. As a result, MML now has the perfect solution for their needs and is not saddled with a customized software application. MML are now able to continuously upgrade to current versions of maestro*, without having to pay to have custom changes re-integrated. MML is looking forward to adding mobile inventory tracking, among other mobile technologies, to improve the efficiency of their service trucks and allow their technicians to process orders and requests in the field.
Maestro* presents expansion possibilities and growth by gradually integrating more modules. The implementation and integration of new modules is an intuitive effort as they are all part of the same base system.
