Maestro’s commitment to quality assurance

Maestro Liason Since last November, Maestro has been undergoing a major change. New terms have made their way into the vocabulary of employees. We now hear people talking about processes, work instructions, objectives, indicators and continuous improvement. The concept of quality assurance has made an appearance and is now part of the company’s culture.

Maestro is not making any exceptions. The word ’quality’ is increasingly used in companies. In fact, quality improvement allows companies to work under better conditions with internal and external customers, which results in a relationship of trust and we can then benefit from all of the advantages associated with this relationship.

At Maestro, the primary goal of this approach, which is a major project for 2007, is to ensure consistency between the various internal processes and improve them. This project also constitutes a formal commitment from management to focus on quality in the coming years.

Quality in all departments

Software quality and quality in our services have significant repercussions on all our departments-not only ours, but yours too. This is why management wants this project to succeed. To ensure its success, Maestro has called upon an experienced resource who will guide the different groups in the company through the process. All department managers are therefore involved.

It is helpful to think of software quality assurance in terms of tests. Quality control is an important aspect of our processes. It allows us to gather the information necessary to develop solutions in the context of quality assurance. Quality assurance reaches very far. It involves the work of all parties and processes, from creating an application to telephone support.

The approach launched by Maestro complies with the ISO 9001 standards: 2000 and CMMI, two standards that have already proven themselves in the software industry. While accreditation of the implemented quality system is not an immediate objective, the internal processes are documented, reviewed and improved based on the guidelines provided in these standards.

As you surely know, these two standards recommend the standardization of good practices and continuous monitoring. It was in this sense that Maestro started with this approach of consciousness-raising and its objective is to implement new improved internal processes by the end of 2007.

To complement: the setup of continuous improvement groups

In addition to working on internal processes, Maestro has also formed continuous improvement groups. These groups started in different areas of the company. Even then, the purpose of these groups was to identify problems related to operations or the software, and to find permanent and efficient solutions.

With these new activities, Maestro hopes to achieve and guarantee that a certain level of quality will be maintained in accordance with long-term objectives.
