The MacBeth Group of companies is very excited about our upcoming software implementation with Maestro. We spent 5 months analyzing a total of six providers before making our decision to proceed with Maestro. Our decision was made unanimously by our group of 10 divisional managers and accountants.
The onsite demonstration to our management team was when our decision became clear to us. Every time we asked a question we were told “we can do that” and we were showed how it would be done. There was never hesitation or even clarifying questions, they immediately understood what we were looking for. We felt that this was a huge indicator of how implementation and training would go; the faster we were understood the faster the training and implementation would go. We had a list of wants and needs that we were looking for from a software package: consolidated accounting for twelve legal entities, job costing, estimating, customer relationship management, scheduling, database mailing, issuing and tracking of purchase orders, quote requests, equipment repair and maintenance tracking, H/R management and payroll that would integrate with our existing time clock system. Maestro met every need and wan and showed us the value and need for the document management, an area we knew nothing about but quickly added to the “must have” list.
We look forward to working with the Maestro team and becoming fully operational with one software package integrated throughout all divisions and companies.

As we continue to use maestro*, we continue to be impressed by its reporting capabilities
and rarely find that it is not possible to configure a report to give us the information we need.
The after sales support provided by Userbase continues to be great and if need be, we also can
contact Maestro directly.

The maestro* system was implemented in March 2008. I was personally a strong believer in
the GEAC system for its financial reporting aspects; however, the maestro* system had more
elements that would enable us to more seamlessly link our Service Department and pour Purchasing
Department to our financial and reporting systems. Further, maestro* has a much stronger
database interface with Excel. Not only can you export your data to an Ecel file, but you can also
import data, which makes recurring journal entries much more efficient.

We recently implemented maestro* as our construction accounting software for AFC
Construction, AFC Consulting and AFC Walls & Ceilings. I spent several weeks researching various
different programs, doing omline demos and talking to the sales representatives for each program.
Maestro Technologies stood out above all the rest due to the knowledge, professionalism and
organization of our representative, Tyler Harrison. After experiencing several other omline demos it
was such a pleasure to be able to go through an online demo with Tyler as he had so thoroughly
prepared for it, thus making it easier for us to understand the program and its capabilities. He had
gone out of his way to get data specifically related to our company and upload it prior to the demo
so that we could be more familiar with what was happening.
During his onsite visit, Tyler was
once again knowledgeable, professional and organized making the training sessions efficient. In
addition, he was very courteous and patient with the different learning skills of each individual,
trying to teach a variety of different methods.
Tyler Harrison is definitely an asset to Maestro
Technologies and I would not hesitate to recommend Maestro and/or Tyler to any other organization
that could benefit from this program.

Choosing an Information System
The ARTE Group of Companies is a leader in the
fabrication of self-framing & rigid framed metal structures, structural steel skids, and
building envelope construction services, pertaining to the energy, mining and construction
industries. Our commitment to excellence in the delivery of our products through safety, service and
quality, has solidified our position in the industrial, commercial and residential markets. With
this commitment we will continue to focus on our clients, employees and community.
One of the
challenges we encountered in assessing our information processing needs was trying to find a single
solution that could handle all the diverse operations within the ARTE Group. Some of our divisions
perform longer term contracts which are progress-billed, others are lump-sum upon completion, and
others are work-order based. Some work is performed using our own labour and equipment, other work
is performed utilizing sub-trades, and other contracts require a combination. Adding to the
requirements was managing a fleet of 16 trucks with inventories, estimating, lien tracking, dynamic
reporting requirements (both internally and externally), multi-company, intercompany transactions,
change orders, safety tracking, and many other items. We also had to take into consideration where
the ARTE Group is going as an organization. With growth of over 600% over the past four years, this
was no easy task.
In total, eleven software vendors were contacted and their solutions reviewed.
Some of the solutions were generic and could be customized, and others were specific to the
construction industry. While each offering had its own strengths, none of the solutions being
evaluated had the combination of solid technology and breadth of functionality that maestro*
offered.
Longevity was also a key factor in our evaluations. Maestro demonstrated that they are
consistently investing back into their solution based upon customer feedback. Also appealing was
that Maestro is a privately held company that is addressing the idiosyncrasies of the Canadian
construction industry.
I would recommend maestro* to any organization that wants to
enhance their operations through one integrated solution.
